Help for Buddy ~ Surgery Needed!
Buddy is my parents beloved Basset Hound. He is 4 years old and is absolutely adorable! When Buddy was just a young puppy, he took a bad tumble off the basement stairs (almost from the top) in my parents house. At the time, he appeared fine, just got up and kept on running and playing. For days after he still appeared to be fine and as time went on, the tumble was forgotten because Buddy was still being crazy loveable Buddy with no apparent injuries.
However, as time went on, Buddy began limping, then more time passed and he began just dragging his back leg. After a visit to the vet and xrays, it was determined that ligaments were actually ripped and that the muscle in Buddy’s back leg has basically been deteriorating. My parents have tried everything the vet suggested and he has been on different medications for pain although nothing seems to be working.
Every time I visit, it breaks my heart to see him trying to get around. The pain is not constant but on bad days he basically sits down and drags his back end around rather than walking. Stairs are now a challenge for him and he takes them very slow. You can tell he really doesn’t want to but hey, he’s a loving dog and when someone goes up or down, he’s following! He can’t even jump up on the couch or bed anymore and has to be lifted up. More consultation with the vet has now revealed that the only way to get Buddy relief is to have surgery. The surgery is quite costly, almost $3,000. My parents are both retired and are just making ends meet. They are doing their best to save up for this surgery but it’s going to be a long haul. I would like to see him get the surgery he needs so my parents don’t have to worry about where they will get the money.
They love him sooo much and are heartbroken that they can not pay for his surgery. I don’t really like to ask for help like this but this is for Buddy and my parents, so I have to do what I can for them. Buddy is only 4 years old and has a long life ahead of him, we would like it to be pain free. I am doing all I can to help and am reaching out as well. A heart felt Thank you to all in advance from Me, my parents and especially Buddy!
Thank you,
Brenda
